Bath Time!

Caroline loves taking baths! Daddy is hoping this is a good indication that she will be a swimmer someday! Here's a picture of her just after her bath tonight.

Let's rock and roll!

Caroline is doing so many "big" things these days...yesterday she started rolling over! Each time she does, she gets a big smile on her face - as I'm sure she is quite impressed with herself. (Not to mention her mommy and daddy are quite proud of her too!) Check out this video....

Some cute pics...

Caroline is staying awake a lot more these days. Today we played with toys (including our new Leap Frog caterpillar - thanks to the awesome people @ mommy's work), sat up in the walker, and enjoyed some tummy time. She holds her head up like a pro now....the picture shows her proud daddy looking on as she shows off for him! She is also starting to smile a lot :)
Check out these cute photos I took today:

The Cabin!

Last week Andy, Caroline, and I headed to Liberty, Indiana for our annual trip to the family cabin. We were both eager to get there, as it is always a fun and relaxing get-away. Our days were spent doing whatever we chose to do...reading, napping, hiking through the woods, sitting around the campfire...you name it. This was the Wallace's 20th year at the cabin - and Caroline's first! It was so exciting to bring a new member of the family along this time. Caroline certainly wasn't lacking for any attention. If Grammy wasn't holding her, then her Aunt Kinsey was. Occasionally Grandpa Wallace and Uncle Todd got their chance to hold her too. Yes, I said Uncle Todd - he finally held Caroline for the first time (and she didn't break!!). Also, Caroline got to meet her great Aunt Heidi! Here are some pictures from our trip to the woods....

Play time!

Here is Caroline on her play mat...thanks Barb!

Our growing girl!

We saw the pediatrician for a 2 week check-up on October 9th. He said she looked great! Our little girl is growing so fast - she weighs in at 9 lbs 14 oz and measures 21 3/4 inches long!

The great outdoors!

We decided to take advantage of a beautiful October day by going to Mounds State Park for a family hike. We put Caroline in a carrier, strapped it to Andy, and we were on our way! Our navigator, Emily (a great one, I might add), with map in hand, led us through the beautiful trails at the park. We even made it back to the car without getting lost! With my sense of direction, it's a good thing that I didn't do the navigating because we still might be lost on the trail somewhere....

The dreaded hiccups...

We wanted to post this short video to share with you a laugh we had this past weekend. Caroline gets the hiccups two or three times a day. She usually handles them pretty well, but by the third time, it's just more than a girl can handle!! (Turn it up so you can hear her hiccups, but not so loud that the annoying stuffy nosed man makes you go deaf!!)

Sweet Home Indiana...

"Home at last!"

Purdue's newest (and cutest) fan!!

Taking a nap with Aunt Kinsey!

Well we got to come home Friday morning, which was awesome! We've had several visitors over the weekend. The "workgirls" came by Friday to visit and bring us some food for the weekend. Grammy and Grandpa Wallace have come by often to check up on things and visit. We've seen Uncle Todd and Aunt Kinsey, one who is still a little leary to hold Caroline and one who hardly wants to put her down! (Bet you can't guess which is which...). We also got a good laugh from the visit with our friend Carey. Everytime he tried to hold Caroline she'd start crying, then I'd take her and she'd stop immediately. I handed her back and he even tried to keep holding her the same way I had been holding her and she started screaming again! As soon as he handed her back to me she stopped immediately again. We tried one last time and this time VICTORY! She stayed nice and relaxed and made her now world famous goofy faces while sleeping. It was a great visit. I've got one more day at home before I head back to the routine of school. Kristy gets 16 weeks off! (How great is that!!??) We've been having a hard time adjusting to the life of a 1 week year old...amazingly it's very similar to the lifestyle I had in college, though it's much harder to handle now that I'm out of that lifestyle: lots of napping/sleeping during the day and not much sleeping at night! We've really enjoyed reading all your comments, especially those from far off family! We look forward to more visitors and settling into our new life with a little one. We hope to get some pictures taken as a family soon. We'll be sure to post those for you to snag as soon as we get them done. Until next time, we hope you're all doing well, and will talk to you again soon!

Big sister comes to visit!!!

We were so glad to finally get a visit from Caroline's big sis, Emily!! Little Caroline must have known because she didn't stir one bit in Em's arms. We look forward to watching them both grow up, and know that Emily will have lots to tell Caroline and lots to teach her! Afterall, Emily sure was a great baby, and has us spoiled to how great a child can behave!! We're so proud of both of them!

Thanks to all of you who came by to visit today, it sure was great to see you all! We're hopefully headed home tomorrow, so if you don't make it to the hospital we'll see hopefully get to see you soon at home! Caroline's been sleeping a lot today which means tonight should be another "eventful" night!

An early favorite...

This is one of my favorite pictures so far...I just wish she would have looked like this for long periods of time last night!!!

Our own little slice of....BMH.

It's a little after midnight, but we just got our own room. Very spacious and set back in the corner, so it should help reduce some of the hallway noise that we've been hearing. If you want to come visit you can now find us in room 4115, on the mother and baby end, in the back left corner (sadly, I've actually lost my sense of direction and it's too late for me to look out the window and figure it out...sorry). See you in the morrow....

Moving on up....to the Other side of the hospital!

Hi guys! We've gotten a few hours of sleep so I thought I'd try to give you a little update and encourage anyone who wants to to come by and visit! We've been moved to a semi-private room (though we're the only ones in here for now), #4118. If you want to come see our cuddly, HAIRY, little girl, (or us :) ), feel free to come by! They tell us that they will move us to a private room as people move out, so we'll put that room number on here as well when we move there.
Kristy's doing great! I tell you things could not have gone better. She made the wise decision to go to the epidural and that made things go very well. She did a great job making it to 6cm before being confined to the bed with the addition of the epidural. There were no complications, and shortly thereafter we were pushing! It was quite humorous (and very touching) to see the two docs, one going off call, and one coming on, fighting over who got to deliver her. Dr. Pete won out, but only because Dr. Lopiccolo got to sit bedside and help hold Kristy's leg!
I got to help give Caroline her first bath, and she's been doing great ever since! Thank you all for your comments, thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement! We couldn't ask to have better people in our lives! We look forward to seeing you all soon! I'll post a few more pictures on here once we get a little more room in our private room! Post to you again soon!

Sweet Caroline!

Caroline's Room

I can't believe we're going to get two new posts in the same week!  We just thought we'd get some pictures of Caroline's room since it's now complete and ready for her to move in to!!  Kristy did the painting on the walls.  She kept saying the "we" should paint, but I told her it would turn out much better if she painted it.  I think in this case, I was right!  We can't wait for out little monkey to get here!

We're waiting for the big day!

Well, a couple new things to report since the last post (which is good since that was about a month and a half ago)! First of all, we have officially decided on a name for our little girl! We are waiting anxiously for little Caroline Ella Wallace to join our family!
The first name honestly comes from the great Neil Diamond! One of my favorite songs by Neil is "Sweet Caroline." We also wanted to choose a simple, yet original name. Ella actually comes from the Wallace side of the family. My dad's mother passed away when he was young, and we wanted to honor her name, MaryElla, by using the Ella for Caroline's middle name. We used Wallace because, well...it just sounded the best with the first and middle names. :)
The other news is that Kristy has been to the doctor twice for the "more personal" visits to determine progress, but, alas, no progress to report. I suppose, like many things in life, all good things come to those who wait. If she needs more time growing and whatever else she's doing in there right now: gymnastics, eating, hiccuping, listening to music, more gymnastics, and probably a good deal of sleeping, well let her come when she's ready! For you visual readers out there, here's an updated picture of the basketball that's growing in Kristy right now!! Talk to you again soon!

July 2, 2008

Baby Wallace has become very active these days. She must be practicing her kicks and doing laps in utero - preparing herself to be a swimmer like her daddy!

We had another doctor's visit today. We're going every 2 weeks now! Everything is checking out great so far. Her heartbeat was 146 at today's checkup.

Ultrasound!

May 15, 2008

I have been waiting for this day! We finally get to have an ultrasound. How exciting to see the baby for the very first time! Andy and his mom were also there for the big event! So here it is...the first pictures of Baby Wallace!

It's A Girl!!!

Here she is making faces at us!

Here are her tiny toes...

I had to put this one in too....she has Andy's feet (her 2nd toe is longer than her big toe!)
I believe Andy's words were: "Check out those fins!"

May 4, 2008
Ok....time for another belly shot! This is at 20 weeks. We're halfway there. Everything seems to be going great. The heartbeat is nice and strong. We get an ultrasound on May 15. Will it be a boy or a girl???

16 weeks!

Today, April 7th, marks 16 weeks along. Here's what the baby looks like...looks a lot like a belly :) We go to the doctor in a week for our next visit. It should be just another routine visit, check Kristy's vitals and find the (single) heartbeat again!

Doctor's Visit #3

Today we met with Dr. Lopiccolo. He seems like a very nice man, but he sure gave us quite a scare today. As he was checking for a heartbeat, he said, "Hmmm, what's that I hear? Is that two heartbeats?" We both nearly had heart attacks. He smiled and said, "Just kidding." We laughed quite nervously, and gave a sigh of relief! We know there's nothing we could do about it now, but we'd be glad if God just blessed us with one at a time! The heartbeat was a little slower this time, clocking in at 158 bpm. I think my heart rate may be the same, but that's just cause I'm nearly 30 and out of shape!
Positively Pregnant!

It's official! On January 29th we found out that Kristy is pregnant with our first child! We're very excited about the news and the new life that is soon to be born. The doctor has placed the due date of September 21st.
